BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In Professional Carwashing & Detailing’s recently released 2017 Top 50 U.S. Conveyor Chains list, Charlotte, North Carolina-based Autobell Car Wash reports 78 locations, which is an increase of four locations since last year’s list.
Ranked No. 4 on this year’s Top 50 list, Autobell Car Wash was founded in 1969 by the late Charles Howard Sr. and is still owned privately by the Howard family.
Today, the carwash company operates in North and South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Maryland.
Our Editorial Director Rich DiPaolo recently sat down with Autobell Car Wash’s Chief Operating Officer Carl Howard to discuss the chain’s future plans for expansion, the state of the overall industry and some recent company news.
In this industry exclusive podcast, Howard shares, “Right now the carwash industry is hot. … I think part of what is driving [such intense interest] is our industry is a stable industry, it’s an industry that difficult to replace — you can’t just go online and get your car washed — and it’s a brick-and-mortar-type business, and that is very attractive to outside investors.”
