EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Ship Shape Car Wash is under reconstruction to transform its iconic ship exterior, according to the Leader-Telegram.
Sold earlier this year, new owner Joe Zink is updating the facility to make it more efficient, the article stated.
“We’re doubling the length of the conveyor to have the ability to process cars faster,” said Zink in the article. “That’s why we’d remove the bow of the ship. It was the only way for us to handle what we do.”
The carwash is closed for the remodeling but is projected to reopen Sept. 1, the article continued.
“It’s another iconic business facade that’s gone,” stated Scott Morfitt, resident of Eau Claire, in the article. “It’s just another one of those things on the around town highways that are seeming to go away. It’s sad, but it’s also a sign of an improving, changing city.”
Zink said the revamped carwash will be known for its low prices, with a grand opening special featuring $3 washes, the article reported.
Free vacuums will also be available for the wash’s customers, noted the article.
