SAN ANTONIO — According to an article on kens5.com, on Sunday, Oct. 9th, Bee Clean Car Wash gave free carwashes to firefighters in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
Josh McCooey, general manager of Bee Clean Car Wash, said, “At first they’re in shock a little bit. ‘Really? Why?’ ‘Well because we love you!’ It sounds cheesy but we really do appreciate what they do.”
This is the first time Bee Clean Car Wash has given away free carwashes to firefighters, the article explained, and they washed over 200 cars for them.
“Sometimes it’s hard to understand what they go through day in and day out to serve our communities,” said McCooey. “Waking up in the middle of the night when they hear their bells go off, everyone has their monitors. Sometimes I think that’s missed. We don’t forget that. We realize what it takes.”
Seventy-nine firefighters across the U.S., five of which were from Texas, perished in the line of duty last year, the article stated.
Roberta Cancio, a firefighter, said, “It means that we’re not being overlooked. It means the public really does respect our job and wants to give back to us. It’s the little things that count. You know?”
On Nov. 11th, Veteran’s Day, Bee Clean Car Wash will give free carwashes to all veterans and active-duty military.
