BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In a recent CarWash Safety 101 with Mike Benmosche blog post, McNeil & Co. National Carwash Program Specialist Mike Benmosche discusses how anti-collision equipment is designed to reduce the chance of collision at the exits of tunnel washes.
“As most of you may know, this equipment is designed to mitigate the chances of collisions at the exit of the tunnel. There are several types of machinery available to accomplish this,” says Benmosche in the blog post. “Ultimately, the goal is to have a system that will sense when a collision is imminent and automatically shut down the conveyor.”
In the blog post, Benmosche offers insight into four advantages of anti-collision equipment, which include:
- Accident prevention
- Meeting OSHA requirements
- Reduced loss of income
- Tunnel exit safety.
“Carwashes can contact the vendors they work with for their POS systems to talk about adding anti-collision equipment to their tunnels. Owners and operators should discuss some of the options for safety … and find out if this equipment is right for their operations,” explains Benmosche in the blog post. “Do it today, and start saving money by preventing property damage and potential personal injury.”
